If your IG content keeps getting flagged, try this:

Tldr: Using collaborative posts on Instagram might help prevent your main account from being flagged.

If you’re already familiar with collab posting, you can skip this one

Now the long version: We all know that it feels like some accounts can get away with posting incredibly (borderline aggressively?) nsfw content, while other accounts get flagged for content that feels puritan in comparison.

I used to just think: good for them! Instagram doesn’t mind if their areolas are out, and your success is not my failure. BUT then one day I just had to know: is there anything we can possibly learn from their seemingly consistent evasion of Instagram’s flags?

The answer ofc is yes 💕

I started looking into huge OF creators’ Instagram accounts that seemingly don’t get in trouble no matter what they post…and then I noticed something I never saw before: the most nsfw content was posted as a collaboration.

If you’re totally new to collab posts, it’s Instagram’s feature that allows you to essentially co-publish content. You can read more about it here.

If you go on IG right now and browse your feed, you’ll see it for yourself: instead of having just one username as the publisher, it says “username one” and “username two” right next to each other.

Now, I’m not going to pretend like I know for sure how Instagram’s algorithm works. Nobody does. But, it seems like collab posts are a way to prevent Instagram from flagging your main account, even if you’re posting risky content.

Here’s the hypothesis:

  • You have your main account that you’ve been growing for a long time that you don’t want to be flagged

  • You have a throwaway account, it doesn’t matter if it’s flagged or not

  • Using the throwaway account, you post the risky content, collaborating with your main account

When you publish the content, it appears in BOTH accounts’ feeds. But, it seems that if the content gets flagged, only the throwaway account gets punished.

Obviously this isn’t something any of us know with certainty, BUT this is definitely a pattern I’ve noticed when it comes to people “getting away” with posting riskier content.

Now that you have this info, go open Instagram right now and see how many creators you look up to use this method and see if you come to the same conclusion 👀

Take a peek and see what you think!

Good luck out there :)
